These comprise rooms 133-145, containing Islamic, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Northern European, and British Pottery, temporary displays of contemporary ceramics, British and European porcelain, tiles, Far Eastern ceramics, and Chinese carvings. For reopening of galleries check www.vam.ac.uk.

Ashmolean Museum, Oxford

The Ashmolean Museum is about to embark on a major rebuilding project which will last until 2008. Many galleries of the Museum will progressively close until that date. It is hoped to keep some of the Museum galleries, mainly of European art and of ancient Egypt, open to the public during these works.

The British and other European porcelain, most of the British and European pottery, and most of the Classical and Eastern ceramics will be unavailable to students or visitors during this period, although it is hoped that some of the Italian maiolica and some of the English delftware will remain accessible. The photographic service will also be restricted during this period.

Intending visitors with interests in the European ceramic collections should consult the Museum website (www.ashmol.ox.ac.uk), or get in touch with Mrs Bridget Allen (Telephone: 01865 278042; bridget.allen@ashmus.ox.ac.uk) to find out if any part of the collections they wish to see are accessible. Some information on the Ashmolean ceramic collections is available via Potweb - http://www.potweb.ashmol.ox.ac.uk.
