Member`s visit to Edinburgh

At the end of February an application form will be sent out for the above trip and this is to give you a little prior information and an opportunity to keep the dates free!

We will be guests of the Kiln Club of Edinburgh who have arranged a full programme of events for us.

Arrival will be on Thursday 2nd May and that evening there will be a reception for us at Lyon & Turnbull`s Auction House and a view of a private West Pans porcelain collection. On Friday there will be visits to the National Museums ceramic stores and Leith Customs House. We will visit Newhailes House on Saturday morning and have two short talks and guided visits to the new galleries of the National Museum of Scotland in the afternoon. That evening there will be a dinner at and a tour of Edinburgh`s underground vaults. On Sunday there are optional visits to members of the kiln club who have very kindly offered to show us their collections. We will be staying at the Apex City Hotel, very centrally situated in the Grassmarket. The hotel has a small car park which is operated on a `first come, first served` policy. Also there are NCP carparks close by. There are tea and coffee making facilities in all the rooms, which will either be doubles or twin bedded. Included in the price will be breakfast, the Edinburgh Vaults dinner, one lunch, all teas and coffees and any coach travel, although some of the visits are close to the hotel and we will be able to walk. Travel to and from Edinburgh is not included.

The pricing structure will be as follows:
£325 per person sharing a double or twin bedded room
£480 per person for single occupancy of a double room

I appreciate that some people may want to find their own accommodation or may have friends or relations in the city. The cost of the trip without hotel accommodation is £175. Most of the activities will start from the Apex City Hotel and those using other accommodation will need to join the group there at designated times. If you have any further questions, please let me know and if I can, I will answer them. Contact me at membership@englishceramiccircle.net
